After sustaining injuries overseas, Air Force Staff Sergeant Jeff Cleveland returned from the Gulf War to work in healthcare. In 2011, he founded Medical Equipment Supplies of America (MESA) and quickly brought on Paul Kimbel, a fellow Army veteran who served in combat in Somalia during the U.S. occupation of that country. Their philosophy is to provide veteran level services to other veterans and the public in need of medical equipment and supplies. The company’s three person management team consists of combat veterans. Joining Jeff, the President and Paul, the Vice President of Sales and Service is Keith Nadig, the Contracts Operations Officer. Keith is a retired Army Colonel who saw combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. This team is proud that more than 20% of our employees are veterans. In addition to providing goods and services at a level one expects when provided by those who served our country, the company has a twofold mission to serve veterans. We seek to hire veterans, especially those who are transitioning out of their military service and we serve elderly and disabled veterans with fifteen service contracts with Veterans Administration centers. Paul Kimbel was born in Louisville Kentucky and two years after graduating from high school enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1992, serving until 2000. Over his service he was attached to the elite 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and 10th Mountain Division. He trained on multiple bases, including Fort Drum, New York and Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

In the 1990s, Somalia was wracked with famine and fighting among warlords. In December 1992, President George H.W. Bush authorized the dispatch of U.S. troops to Somalia to assist with famine relief as part of the larger United Nations effort. “Operation Restore Hope” saw the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit MEUSOC assume the unified command in Mogadishu. Sergeant Kimbel along with other members of the 10th Mountain Division reinforced the Marine operation. He participated in convoys that delivered direct humanitarian support to the population until operations ceased with the infamous “Black Hawk Down” incident where 18 American troops were killed. Two years later Sergeant Kimbel was coordinating humanitarian aid convoys in Haiti, in response to massive flooding caused by Hurricane Gordon. In 1996 he was reassigned to become the aide to the Division Command Sergeant Major of the 101st Airborne Division where he completed Air Assault Training, Airborne, Air Assault, Anti- terrorist and Surveillance Schools.

After 8 years of service Sergeant Kimbel left the Army and took a job as a delivery technician serving long term healthcare facilities. Over the next 10 years he worked his way up from delivery technician, territory manager, regional manager, to Vice President of the Southeast.

Since 2011 he has served as the Vice President of Sales and Service for MESA and continues to serve his fellow veterans.

Jeff has lived a life of service. After completing JROTC in High School in 1985, he enlisted in the US Air Force as an Airman. Once graduating from Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas he was transferred across the state to Sheppard Air Force Base for basic medic training. He performed his medical duties at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa for the remainder of his enlistment. In 1988, he transferred to the Air Force Reserve.

In 1990, Iraqi Dictator Saddam Hussain invaded neighboring Kuwait. In response President Bush ordered Operations Desert Shield/Storm. Staff Sergeant Cleveland was mobilized back to active duty with the 97th Aeromedical Evacuation Group and deployed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Upon commencement of the Allied Offensive, his unit redeployed near Al Jubail, which was 45 miles behind the front lines to receive and transport Allied casualties. After 6 months in theater, SSGT Cleveland returned home and completed his 6-year enlistment.

He is the founder and President of MESA.

Colonel (Retired) Keith P. Nadig was commissioned in 1986 as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry from the University of Kentucky Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (better known as ROTC). Afterwards, he served command and staff positions in Infantry, Military Intelligence, and Military Police units culminating with his retirement as the Commander of the 333rd Military Police Brigade.

He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer’s Basic and Advanced Courses, the Military Intelligence Officer Transition Course, the Military Intelligence Officer’s Advance Course, the Signals and Electronic Warfare Officer’s Course, the Military Police Officer Transition Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.

Colonel (Retired) Nadig’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with two stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with star, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Basic Parachutist Badge, and the Meritorious Unit Citation while serving with the 11th Military Police Brigade.

After retiring, he continues to serve his community by volunteering with the American Legion, serving as the Post Chaplain for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2473, and as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church.
